When I conducted this study in 2007, I noticed that relatively few studies had investigated trunk balance in wheelchair basketball players or highlighted its importance in this population. This research gap motivated me to undertake the study.
The findings provided useful and easily interpretable parameters for classification purposes. With a larger participant sample, these results could also contribute to the development of important normative reference values for the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
